At the top of the Oaxaca mountains, in one of the most important festivals of our culture, in the early evening, with a clean and clear sky, with a beautiful Moon big and generous, in the center of a pantheon, I had the opportunity to speak, perhaps the most moving talk about our old grandparents, that I have been able to pronounce in my life.

HIERVE EL AGUA (Water Boils)

Written by Guillermo on .

Our old grandparents kept intimate dealings with the land. For them the earth was a living being that felt and loved them. They maintained a mother-children relationship. As all living beings, earth has parts more sensitive than others.

Unquestionably that in the valleys of Oaxaca emanates from the depth of its bowels, an energy that radiates to all living beings and connects with the sky. Ancestral divine and mystical bridge. Oaxaca is a place where earth and sky kiss. Hierve el agua is an essential place for this love affair between man, earth and the universe.

Indeed, Hierve el Agua located a few miles past Mitla in the road to Ayutla in the Mixe region, is a petrified waterfall, sacred temple for the ancient Oaxacan. At the top of a mountain, is a sulphurous water springs system, although the name is boiling the water, the temperature of the liquid is warm, however, coming out of the spring it seems as if it was boiling.

A series of dams have been built, where the water starts its descent and form splendid color water pools, saturated with minerals. Visitors have at their disposal the necessary services for food, health and a modest infrastructure that will allow you to spend a day of intense contact, not only with nature, but with the spirit.

The deep knowledge possessed by the venerable teachers, that developed over thousands of years, were directly related to the nature, the human spirit and the cosmos. Reason why we understand that these places, by themselves, have their own magic, were used by the teachers as points of contact with the immeasurable.

There is a series of ancestral remains, especially some channels that crisscross the area and that bathe with this precious liquid all the area by gravity.

Currently local people have organized and with government support offer the visitor the possibility to stay overnight in cabins that have all services.

Hierve el agua offers a completely different space, both in its incredible views of mountains and ravines, as its own energy. If you bathe in these sulphurous waters, surely you will come out purified, by the minerals contained as by the energy that you will feel in this wonderful and amazing place.

Don't miss visiting this mysterious, energetic and beautiful place, which as a whole was used as a point of contact between the mother earth energies and the Cosmos father. Let you be led by your sensitivity and come to know a sacred place that was used throughout thousands of years by our ancestors.
